The first wagon goes out shortly after 9am. The last wagon going out to the orchards leaves the market at 5:30pm. The last wagon returns at 6:15pm. The wagon ride is approximately 15 minutes each direction.
How it works:
Start by picking up your picking container. Picking trays or buckets cost $1.25 each. Fruit is weighed per pound for U-Pick. We will weigh your fruit and add on the cost of the container when you check out after picking. Containers are located in front of the building. You can just walk up and get them. After picking up your container, please wait in line for the wagon ride to the patch. We operate outside if we can, but do move operations indoors when needed.
You can bring your own containers. You must have them weighed in advance.
If you bring containers from last year, please check in with the attendant to date them for this year.
After picking, check in with the attendant in front of the market to have your fruit weighed. They will give you a weight slip to take into the market for payment. Your berries will be tagged with your name and placed on a cart so that you don't have to carry them into the market. Please show your receipt after leaving the market to pick up your berries.
Tips for Picking
- Be prepared to be in the sun, bring sunscreen and/or wide brimmed hat.
-We typically don't have a problem with mosquitos, but you might want to bring some spray just in case.
-Outdoor or "garden" shoes. The grounds can be wet from irrigation, overnight dew, or rain. If you are here first thing in the morning, it is a good idea to wear "outdoor" tennis shoes, maybe even bring an extra pair to change into afterward so you don't drive home with soggy feet:)
-Grab a bottle of water. Stay hydrated while picking:)
-Keep on eye on the kiddos. We love having families visit our farm. Please educate the youngsters about fruit. We don't throw fruit, step on fruit, or spit fruit pits at each other. Remember it takes a whole year to grow them, we cherish each fruit as a gift of nature.
- 1 Sample per customer. We will remind you when you come and while in the patch. Fruit is meant to be taken home, rinsed, and air dried before eating. Remember, they are grown outdoors. It is best practice to rinse them first before eating. They are kind of like potato chips, you can never eat just 1:)
