PYO--How it works:
First, purchase a picking bag. During the week they are available in the market. On the weekends and sometimes Fridays they are a the Red PYO Barn at the top of the hill. The Wagon will take you out to pick apples. The wagon will also take you to the Corn Maze and pumpkin patch when it opens.
Tips for Picking
- Be prepared to be in the sun, bring sunscreen and/or wide brimmed hat.
-We typically don't have a problem with mosquitos, but you might want to bring some spray just in case.
-Outdoor or "garden" shoes. The grounds can be wet from irrigation, overnight dew, or rain. If you are here first thing in the morning, it is a good idea to wear "outdoor" tennis shoes, maybe even bring an extra pair to change into afterward so you don't drive home with soggy feet:)
-Grab a bottle of water. Stay hydrated while picking:)
-Keep on eye on the kiddos. We love having families visit our farm. Please educate the youngsters about fruit. We don't throw fruit, step on fruit, or spit fruit pits at each other. Remember it takes a whole year to grow them, we cherish each fruit as a gift of nature.
- 1 Sample per customer. We will remind you when you come and while in the patch. Fruit is meant to be taken home, rinsed, and air dried before eating. Remember, they are grown outdoors. It is best practice to rinse them first before eating. They are kind of like potato chips, you can never eat just 1:)
